In 1954 the Frankford Arsenal experimented with 30-06 cartridges, using steel cases with armor-piercing projectiles completely teflon coated, with a crimped primer and red annulus. They were the development of the U.S. Navy by Ftzsimmons and Zisman, and all the cartridges had the FA 54 head stamp. They were used to aid in feeding and extraction to avoid "cook offs" in automatic weapons systems. Many believe they were also used in Arctic tests. One of the more interesting experimentals and scarce. Very Limited, Limit One! |
