| ~ This is a scarce, if not rare, speciman of a 303 British, Proof Cartridge made by the (Small Arms Ammunition Factory No 1) Footscray, Melbourne, Australia. On the head Stamp the date (1957) is known by the "57", Proof Cartridges are Identified by the "Q" and Mark III by the "3" after the "Q". The Projectile is crimped with 3 seams in the case, these seams are not case mouth splits. Note the bottom picture, loaded with Cordite in 1957? Very late for Cordite? |
