The 6.5x57mm was developed by Paul Mauser in 1893, it is basically a 7x57mm Mauser
necked down to 6.5mm Diameter case mouth.
The 6.5x57Rmm Mauser is the Rimmed version was developed in 1910.
This cartridge was never used by any country's Military, and is considered a European
Sporting cartridge.
The round is still popular in Europe, but virtually unknown in North America.
