| The Canadians called it the 577 Snider, as on the box produced by Dominion Cartridge Company of Montreal, Canada. The rest of the world called this cartridge the 57 Snider as on the Head Stamp. The case is only 1.626" long compared to the 577 snider which is 2.000" long. The projectile diameter is .569" vs. the .550" on the 577 Snider. The British company, Knock also made this cartridge. According to the Datig Book, Volume One, this is a Canadian not a British cartridge? |
