The 500 Linebaugh was created by John Linebaugh, of Maryville, MO. The cartridge was a 348 Winchester cartridge necked out to 500 caliber, and shortened to 1.5 inches. This was a true Wildcat cartridge until Brass and Cartridge Manufacturers started to produce it. Now it should be considered a Proprietary Pistol Cartridge.
