The
.499 LWR
was developed by the
Leitner-Wise Rifle Company, primarily a defense
contractor in research, development and manufacturing, providing strategic solitions to
the military.
In response to 9/11 the company embarked on the production of some of the most powerful
small arms weapons platforms available today.
The .449 LWR is a huge straight walled case, with an extremely rebated rim, so it can
work in the AR-15/M-16 weapons.
The outside case dimension is app. .0527" but the rim is only app. .0443" app., the same as most 30 caliber rimless.
As Lettner-Wise Rifle Company is the only rifle manufacter of this caliber, this is
considered a "Proprietary Rifle Cartridge" or "Proprietary Pistol Cartridge" |
