| .44 Wesson Extra Long W.R.A. Co. |
![]() |
| The 44 Wesson Extra Long was introduced for the Frank Wesson Long Range Creedmore Rifle, which was advertized in 1877, so the cartridge should have been introduced in the mid to late 1870's. They were loaded with 48 grains of Black Powder and a 250 grain lead bullet. It is identical to the 44 Extra Long Ballard, with the exception of the projectile. These are Winchester "W.R.A. Co 44 L." Head Stamp and they still have the lubricant (Bees Wax) on them for you purists. I prefer to clean the specimen up with a little paint thinner, as it only takes a minute to do so. They are sold with the lubricant on them, so it is up to you to decide to clean or not to clean. |
