| ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
| The 44-40 Winchester, also called 44 WCF or 44 Winchester was introduced in 1873 for use in the Winchester Model 1873 lever-action rifle. It fast became a winning caliber and Colt offered a revolver in this caliber in 1878, after which almost every firearms manufacturer offered a revolver or rifle in the 44-40 caliber. Most cowboys and hunters liked the idea of a rifle and a revolver using the same ammunition, and the 44-40 was a great and still is a great caliber today. Below are a few different single cartridge specimens we have available, and we will be adding more in the very near future. |
