Back in the mid 1900s the British had many 303 Enfield bolt-action rifles converted from .303
British to .410 Inch, or 410 shotgun (single-shot) rifles for use in India and Singapore for the
local military and police departments.
The British did this so if the local governments had to
be invaded again by the British military, the British would not be out gunned.
