| The "38 Ballard Extra Long"centerfire cartridge was produced by UMC or Union Metallic Cartridge Companyfor the single shot Ballard and Stevens rifles. The cartridge was introduced in 1885 and is basically the centerfire version of the 38 extra long rimfire.
