38-55 Winchester, 38-55 Ballard
The 38-55 Winchester or 38-55 Ballard was introduced commercially in 1884 for the
Ballard No 4 rifle. Later for the Winchester 1894 and Marlin 93 Lever Action Rifles,
along with Colt and Savage rifles.
Winchester dropped the cartridge in the 1940s but later reintroduced it in the Model 94 rifle.
It has not been manufactured by Winchester for a few years as of this writing, 11/23/15.
