Current or Obsolete Rifle Cartridges
.356 Winchester
The .356 Winchester was developed by Winchester for the Model 94 (XTR) angled ejection lever-action rifle in 1983.
It is basically a "rimmed" *307 Winchester necked out  from 30 caliber to 35 caliber. * Note the 307 Winchester is a
rimmed version the .308 Winchester cartridge.
Although this is a good hunting cartridge for big North American game up to Elk, it was not popular and Winchester only
make the cartridge in special run, once every few years, if at all.
As no other manufacture is currently producing this caliber at this writing (08/18/2019) I consider an this an obsolete
cartridge, until a manufacturer, including Winchester or other major brand decide to produce it again.
