| The 338 Winchester Magnum was introduced in 1958 for the Winchester Model 70 "Alaskan" bolt-action rifle. These 50 year old, "NO HEAD STAMP" Prototype / Experimental were made by Winchester, by necking down the "458 Winchester Magnum" to 338 caliber, which is why they were not head stamped. Picture at left, with the two cartridges shows a new 358 and the prototype with no head stamp. They have some cleaning to be done, as we leave them in the original condition for you to decide to clean them (or not), with a little paint thinner. |
