      250 Savage or .250-3000 (            )
The .250" diameter Savage was designed by Charles Newton and was originally called the
.250-3000 as it was loaded with a 87 grain projectile and had a velocity of 3,000 feet per second.
It was introduced to the public around 1915 for use in the Savage Model 99 lever-action rifle.
Today it is normally commercially loaded with a 100 grain projectile
This has been a hard item to find in the last few years.
