The .242 Manton (as it was first named) was developed by Kynoch for the Manton & Co. of India in 1923. The round has a very handsome, 100 grain, “Copper Pointed” projectile, that travels at 2800 feet per sec., which in 1923 was very fast. It was later made for the Vicker’s Rifle and was renamed .242 rimless ( also called the .242.Vickers) It was in production until the mid 1940s. |
