| ~ The 22-15-60 Stevens was designed by Charles H. Herrick and introduced in 1896 for the Stevens number 44 and 44 & 1/2 Single Shot Rifles. Basically a lengthened 22 Extra Long Centerfire, which is 1.406 " (OAL*) to the 22-15-60 Steven which is 2.297" (O.A.L.*) *O.A.L. = Overall Length Given how thin the cartridge (.225" Diameter for the Projectile to .263" at the base before the rim) it is very tall for the diameter, almost a 10 to 1 ratio. 22-15-60 = .22" diameter projectile, 15 grains of black powder, and a 60 grain projectile.
