| 6.5mm Remington Magnum |
![]() |
| The 6.5 Remington Magnum was introduced in 1966 for the Remington Model 600 Bolt-action Carbine (The Crooked Bolt Model). Because the carbine's magazines were short, the projectile had to be seated deep in the case, cutting down on powder and power. Also, with the shorter barrel of the carbine, ballistics were not great, so the rifle and cartridge were discontinued due to the poor weapon design. If the cartridge was put in a longer action rifle so the projectile could be properly seated in the case, it could produce better ballistics with the increase of powder capacity in the case. This was an obsolete cartridge; however Remington decided to produce it again in 2005; I am not sure for how long or if it was a limited production run. |
